Welcome to CHEZ RAUD gites
Monique and Jim welcome
you to their lovely home.
Situated in the heart of the Charente-Maritime,
within easy reach of the stunning sandy beaches of Royan and the
Cote Sauvage and the historic and beautiful cities of Saintes and
La Rochelle, Chez Raud offers you a unique experience in an authentic
French rural setting.
Families can enjoy country walks
(Jim is happy to accompany you if desired) and will be introduced
to our horses and donkeys. Children will enjoy picking figs and
walnuts from our trees and hunting for mushrooms in the surrounding
pasture and woodland. Get to know our lovely dogs - Kiera and Bou
Bou (who has recently had puppies!) - on walks or just enjoy the
gardens surrounding the main house, sit on the sunny terrace or
just take a dip in the pool! This is a paradise
for animal lovers, where children can enjoy contact with nature
and rediscover the magic of childhood.
Free horse riding is available
for experienced horse riders and Jim will accompany you on afternoon
treks in the local area. Children can enjoy brushing the horses
and donkey and maybe take a ride around the enclosed paddock.
Chez Raud is a restored
traditional Charentaise style farmhouse dating back to the 18th
century. Part of the house has been converted into a comfortable
two bedroom gite, Les Oies Sauvages, sleeping four to six people.
The original barn has been converted into a spacious single-storey
modern gite, Les Cigognes, sleeping four to six people. Monique
is French and Jim is Irish and a warm welcome is assured.
Chez Raud is situated off
a quiet country road in beautiful countryside, two kilometres outside
the village of Le Gua, where you will find all necessary utilities:
two bakers, two butchers,a fishmongers, a general store, pharmacy,
doctors surgery, tabac and a bar. The house is approximately fifteen
minutes from the nearest beaches at Royan.
